Manual sound level for video in Camera app?

Hi guys, when filming handheld everything that concerns the sound is ok but recently I bought a stabilizer and sound became useless; I presume that the sound input level is automatic, so, when there is no ambient sound, the input level is increased and the motors inside the stabilizer are to be heard. Except an external mic, do you have any ideas how to manually set the sound level at a certain level?
