Why is my unit stuck in drain mode

Cycle ran and now if I close the door after two or three minutes. The unit starts up in drain mode all by it self. The only way to stop it is leave the door cracked open.

Many responses suggest Control Panel Fault, but mine was not . AEG Slimline Integrated Favorite Dishwasher first indicated intermittent i20 (drain fault) , found fungal debris blocking the Water Level Sensor Tube , which did NOT clear the problem..... further strip-down showed fungal debris within both the Water Entry Container , and the Salt container below..... a thorough cleaning of both , had the machine sweet again.

Most dishwashers start in a drain mode then they fill wash drain repeat. If yours finished the complete wash setting but continues to drain for hours, then you have an issue in the timer or control board. Or, it’s possible that the cycle wasn’t finished or is set to start washing again. Shut the door and let it run 5-10 min and see if it advances to complete the cycle. Without a model number, that’s the best I can offer. I have seen some issues similar in Bosch dishwashers that have a safety switch underneath that will sense a water leak and put the unit in a drain thinking it’s overfilling.

Is stuck in drain mode with door open or closed.

Sure sounds like a sensor under the tub has detected a leak and triggering the drain valve to come on. Check underneath the unit for a water leak.
