iPad Mini 2 FPC Connector (Home Button Works but no Touch)
Hello!
I’ve just replaced the FPC connector on an iPad 2 that suffered some ‘accidental damage’ whilst in my care. I’m taking full responsibility for it, and I’ve removed, cleaned, pre-tinned and installed the new connector (to what I can see is an acceptable degree, considering it’s my first ever attempt at a job this small).
I ordered a pack of 5 connectors, burned through them all, ordered 10 more and on the first try this time I’ve managed to seat the connector fully, as far as I can tell.
I’ve restored the home button functionality, however I have no touchscreen functionality. All of the pads are A-OK, so I’m assuming I just need to touch up the solder joints on the new connector, but which ones?
I’ve looked at some diagrams of the connector, but quite honestly have no idea what I’m looking at when it comes to electronic diagrams.
If anyone has any other ideas, or knows of any common things to go wrong when replacing them that would be grand too.
Thankyou :)
