My volume buttons are loose and wiggly on my iPhone 6.

Hi guys, I'm new to ifixit forums and I'm sorry If I post this in the wrong place.

I want to ask for some help on my Apple iPhone 6. 

The ringer button and the volume buttons on the phone are really loose and wiggly, and the internals of the buttons seem to not be hooked up the anything. I looked for this issue all over the internet and never found any solutions / repair possibilities.



I have a video of the issue with the buttons.

My overall question is: What parts do I have to order to repair this at my house?

Looks like you are missing a few screws that hold the assembly in place. I don’t know where you would find a replacement set though.

I agree with @ajcooke01, for some weird reason screws seem to be missing..where did you get an iPhone in such condition ? You basically have 2 options here, either buy a full screws set for your iPhone, but then you won’t know exactly which screws go there or buy a second hand housing and get the few right screws you need from there. Both can be easily found for a few $ on ebay.

I bought the phone off of somebody at my school for $50…

When I was opening it up to look at the internals a screw did kind of fall from nowhere and I still have it. Should I look for a hole in that area and put the screw in there?

Or would it just be less complicated to buy a whole new volume button assembly? Thanks for info @arbaman and @ajcooke01

I’ll be opening the phone up just to see in a few minutes time…

Okay I fixed my volume buttons, they work now and it is just the ringer/mute button on the iphone 6, (above the volume buttons) It just sticks up and it doesn't work, and I have a video of it not working

That might be the reason why the buttons were unscrewed in the first place, somebody before you tried to check if it could be fixed and eventually gave up..you'll need a replacement flat cable such as this one [producto vinculado inexistente o deshabilitado: IF268-058]
