TouchID not working after forgetting to turn off iPhone

Hi,

so I recently changed my LCD screen which is something I’m used to doing. However I completely forgot to turn off the phone the last time I did it, and I disconnected all the flex cables connecting the front assembly to the rest of the phone with the phone still on. I then realized my mistake and put everything back together to turn off the phone before anything else, but after that TouchID would not work at all (“TouchID couldn’t be activated on this device”), I also tried restoring the phone, and also updated it to the latest iOS version but nothing worked.

What can I do?

Thanks!

The first thing to check is the condition of the Home Button (including the flex cable) and the condition of the Home Button Link Flex, which runs underneath the LCD heat shield. The flex and connectors are quite fragile and can be easily damaged during a screen replacement.

If all of that looks good, then you probably damaged the something on the logic board, probably the Mesa circuit which powers the TouchID.
