Tv made a pop sound and burnt smell.

Hi. My tv made a pop sound and a burnt smell soon after. I’ve located the faulty capacitor or electronic component on the pcb but I can’t find any details as to what it is and what size I need to replace with as its blue and rectangular but now has popped where the writing was. . Tv is a Samsung LCD. model number UA60ES6500m. On the PCB itself there is writing beside the component called CX802S. Could you please help me find what this part is called so I can get a replacement. Thanks.

@owatana post an image off he damaged board and the location of the capacitor on that board. That way we can see what you see and can identify which board the capacitor is on. Use this guide Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente for that

I’m on my phone at the moment and it won’t let me post an image. I’ll try when I get home. It’s on the power board.

the capacitor should have writing on the side of it...it should be the brand and the capacitance value. you can then do a little googling/ebay/amazon and find it, or pop down to your local electrical supplies place (we have an auto/car audio place here that sells all sorts of goodies). if you’re still struggling to identify the part post a photo with your question and we should be able to help a bit more

I’ll try upload a photo later. I can’t make any writing out as it’s blown on the top and side where the writing is. It looks the same as the one near it however it is larger. The one near it is a cmpp 102 x2. Like I said tho this one is larger than the one I can read.

Hi @owatana ,

Here’s an image taken from a link to the power board for your TV.

I believe CX8025 is a 470nF 275V X2 suppression capacitor.

They’re available online, just search for 470nF 275V X2 capacitor to get results for suppliers of the part.

Thanks @jayeff that is the one in the picture. I will see if I can find one. The board says CX802S not a 5 but I think you have nailed it. Much appreciated.

Hi @owatana ,

Blame it on old eyes and having to magnify the initial image to 300% just to read the markings on it.

Cheers.
