Hi,
My macbook air (early 2015) suddenly shutdown and doesn’t power on now. I tried the SMC and NVRAM reset but nothing happened.
Any ideas about why it happened and how to fix it?

Usually, a battery issue will not cause a no power up issues. Batteries in MacBook Air’s rarely swell or short. When you plug it in, I want you to look at the charger light. Does it light up? Unplug it, and hold down power for 10 sec. Put your ear up to the vent and plug it in again. Do you hear the fan spin up?

The charger light turns on and it’s green because it’s fully charged. And I couldn’t hear fan spin up.
The batteries on MacBooks are typically lithium-polymer, which means they don't swell up but they are prone to issues.

@mikeyd123 I don't go about spreading nonsense such as a lithium-poly battery doesn't swell. Your statement proves you don't know what you are talking about. I don't see any point in wasting time talking about things clearly you don't know about.. spreading misinformation is worse than no information at all, in this or any other forum. You're free and welcome to contribute with facts anytime. If you don't know, avoid please.

This could be a battery issue. You may want to replace your battery. Usually if the device doesn’t turn on after you have reset the SMC, you are experiencing a major hardware issue. A battery replacement should do the trick.

How do you know a battery replacement won't be a waste of money ?
@arbaman The battery on the device may be defective. You can never be certain about any repair. If they bring it to an Apple Store, they can get advice on where they should move forward. If they do a self-repair, they have to investigate the issue themselves. You haven't even posted in this question. If you don't have anything useful to say, please don't waste anyones time.
@mikeyd123 you are telling the OP "A battery replacement should do the trick" without any basis..it could be really anything in this case. If you want to help try and understand first what the issue might be rather than throwing dices. It could be any issue, a thermal issue, a logic board issue..I really can't figure out why someone should buy a battery as first thing to solve such problem. If you do please explain why rather than getting into personal, that's irrelevant and uninteresting to anyone.
@arbaman A logic board is much more of an investment than a battery. As I explained in the last post, a self-repair requires investigation. There is never a definite answer. Also as I said in the last post, you shouldn’t be commenting if you don’t have anything helpful to say. That is irrelevant and uninteresting to people.

can you add a picture. do the bottom seem swollen? or anywhere on your macbook look like its coming apart? puffy?
