Touch ID inoperable after a screen repair

I changed the screen on a 6s+ screen, moving over all the small parts. Everything went smoothly until the phone powered back on with the new screen & the Touch ID fails to setup. It doesn’t even attempt to.

I made sure to transfer the original home button, & left the battery disconnected the entire repair.

Somewhere said to change the whole touch id cable from the screen assembly but the cable runs inside the screen which seems to be impossible to change without tearing. Do i just have a faulty screen? The home button click still works

When you transfer over everything, it’s always possible that you damaged the small flex on the Home Button or the connector. The Link Flex is embedded in the backlight on the 6S so you can’t really replace it. If the Home Button Flex looks good (inspect it for tears), then try it on your old screen again to see if it works with that. If it does, then you probably have a defective replacement part.

Yes your totally correct although it’s not really embedded it’s just behind the shield and easy to replace. I usually replace everything as standard so forgot The old home button should work on a new link flex with Touch ID working fine. Sounds like it’s not connected fully, damaged or a duff new link flex. As you said.

The Link Flex is embedded in the backlight on the 6S series (and not really designed to be user replaceable) while it's only in the heat shield for the 6 series. The OP notes that he/she has a 6S Plus.

You do need to use the old Touch ID flex too. Prize it up really carefully without folding or piercing it. You need to remove the metal backplate to get to all of it.
