No sound during calls - Comes and goes

So I have a strange problem no on my iPhone 7. Suddenly out of nowhere it started using longer time to set up calls. And when the call connects, it gives no sound for me or the person im calling. Totally quiet. Does not help to use speaker phone or headset. Then if I try again some time later it will suddenly work as normal. Then it can stop working in the Middle of a call with some strange noises first. I have had the screen changed before, but that was a few weeks ago and it had no problems before. I also tried another screen to rule that out. Also that does not explain the mic not working either

I know that the iPhone 7 plus has an audio ic issue (motherboard audio chip). Im not sure if it affects the 7 in the same way, but it sure sounds like those symptoms. The main way for me to know it’s that chip is if it takes longer than normal to boot, the touch is laggy, the audio issues you explained and or it gets hot while charging in the upper right where the motherboard is. Are you having any of the other symptoms?

Thansk for pointing me in the right direction. I had a repair shop change or repair the audio ic chip and has not had any problems since.

Any reputable phone repair shop that does board-repairs / micro-soldering for iPhones.

As @benjamen50 says, it was a repair shop that does micro-soldering that fixed the problem for me

@benjamen50 After a year, is your device still working? I'm wondering if it's worth fixing the audio ic or upgrading to a newer phone.
