Why is my polaroid making a popping sound?

Itve been a few months since I used my polaroid. When I wanted to use it back again, my polariod started to act up like, there’s red light blinking. I changed the flim catridge and the batteries already yet, there’s still a popping sound; when I want to take a photo, and a smell of gas coming out from the battery section; when I turned my polaroid on. Does anyone else have this kind of problem? Or do u have any idea why is this happening? Can this be fixed? Really appreciate if anyone could help, thank you very much.
