LG TV has discolored vertical lines

Update 2: It was an IC on the board at the far back (4ZX27 - 05; 040803 as best as I can tell printed on the IC). I used an arrow to show the approximate location behind the other boards.

I actually re-soldered the connections and that did the trick for a moment, but as I was putting everything back together, some of the lines came back. I was using a screwdriver wrapped in duct tape (because I don’t have electrical tape handy) to pull the board out slightly to push the solder back together to remedy the lines on the TV. It worked until I somehow connected something on the picture with the red circle to the back of the TV and something popped and smoke came from the area where the purple arrow is. I think it might be a transistor/voltage regulator on one of the heat sinks, but I don’t know how to tell or how to fix it.

Update 1: I was able to find a chip in the back board that was causing the issue. However, when I was putting it back together, I accidentally connected the back of the TV (ground) with something on the board in the picture with the large capacitors. Something popped and some smoke came from that board. Now the TV won’t turn on at all… Did I blow a fuse or ruin the TV?

Hi, so I have a 42” LG TV (Model #: DU-42PY10X) that a friend gave me. The tv turns on great, but it has a spot on the right side of the display where the pixels are discolored in a vertical stripe. If I leave it on long enough, one of the bars goes away. Also, I haven’t seen it yet, but they say that the TV fades to black if left on long enough. When that happens, only the sound works. From what I’ve read on other posts, it’s most likely a t-con board or a capacitor, but I’m not really sure how to tell. Thanks for the help!
