vertical orange line on screen
On my machine there is a vertical orange coloured line near the left edge of the screen. What could be the problem?

Sadly, you have whats called a TAB failure. This is when the flex cable which is connected on the back of the screen breaks free from the glass plate of the LCD. The cause can be a weak bond as likely in your case, or it can be caused by a bang along the screens edge.
There is nothing you can do to fix it directly, but you might be able to press on the screen at the top and bottom areas to see if the pressure will reconnect it. some times a twisting of the screen can help.
The only real way to fix this is replacing the screen assembly.
