replaced battery w/o any trouble however...

I ordered and replaced my cell battery. The guide was very easy to follow and was completed in 15 min. BUT due to the arthritis in my hands I turned the center screw just a little too tight while replacing the bracket and broke the “thing” (diode?) that was attached to the logic board. Could you tell me what that “thing” is and what I need to replace? The battery arrived very timely and worked :) phone powered up, but there were vertical black and white stripes on the screen and I was not able to access the phone in any capacity. After taking it apart 5 times I finally discovered what I had done. :(

I have told friends how pleased I was with the replacement part and the timely manner it arrived as well as the cost! I will be rating IFIXIT with BBB as a good and reliable DIY repair source. .

Better than waiting 5 hours in an Apple store or sending phone off for repair. I now know to be very gentle when replacing screws.

Center screw—-let’s guess that you took off the screen while doing your battery replacement and by center screw you are talking about the middle screw in the center of the lcd bracket.

What broke off was most most likely just the screw bracket. Do not attempt to put that back on, the area almost certainly has “long screw damage” now—a gouge in the logic board under the screw bracket. It is best to leave that spot alone and never put a screw there again.

long screw damage to the middle hole in IPhone 6 is pretty rare—there are not many traces underlying that hole. I don’t believe that any of them would cause a zebra strip effect.

So so why do you have black and white lines? MOST LIKELY is damage to the LCD flex. It may just be poorly seated in the connector, but my guess is that you allowed the screen to bend all the way back while still attached to the lcd connector—this can easily damage the lcd flex.

If re-seating the cable doesn’t solve, your next step is a screen replacement to see if that solves.

Thank you so much for the assistance. I will see if that works. I'll let you know :) Yes the screen did fall back. several times. Arthritic hands sometimes don't hold on to things well. I will be extremely careful when I attempt a fix.
