MacBook won't start up. Tried all recommended methods.

I recently moved from Norway to Thailand. I've charged my MacBook Air one time in Thailand, and after a couple of hours use of battery it suddenly wouldn't start up. One of the four pins on the MagSafe has turned black, maybe a sign of uneven voltage and bad grounding here in Thailand?

I've searched the internet for tips and solutions, but nothing has yet worked. I've also opened the back panel and reconnected the battery, but still no sign of life.

What should be my next step on fixing my MacBook? Change the battery maybe?

Thank you for your time!

Update (08/03/2018)

Now I've tried replacing the I/O board, but it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

What should be the next step? Changing the battery or I/O cable? Or simply buying a new laptop?

A black pin is not a good sign..are you using an original Magsafe adapter ? Apple chargers usually provide excellent protection and don’t easily go bad even if abused, unlike cheaper chinese counterparts. If you can get hold of a good known working charger you can check if your Mac starts by plugging it in with battery disconnected from logic ..Mac should startup on its own. If it does retry with battery connected, if it doesn’t something got fried..it could be just the I/O board or charging circuit on the logic board itself. I/O boards are not very expensive and are quite easy to replace..that part together with the connecting flex cable would be first parts to try and replace.

Thank you for the tip!

My MagSafe is original. Tried with another working original charger, but that didn't work either.

I guess, as you said, the next step will be to try a new I/O board. Should I stick to original parts, or will third party work just fine?

....by the way, the indicator on the MagSafe is working.

I would prefer used original parts if I had the chance, they are usually more reliable than third parties replicas.
