Samsung washing machine (wf42h5000aw/a2) will not power on

The washer will not power on when the power button is pushed. It did turn on intermittently (once every 5-10 times) for a few days, but not at all now.

The main control board (right side) is flashing green every 5 seconds which I believe means it is functioning, or at least getting power. See photo:

When I push the power button, I hear a clicking sound and a green light on the smaller control board (left of photo) flashes 7 times, then goes off.

Thanks for any help!

@arionesp

see if you're getting the communications signal and power supply from CN7. Measuer CN7 with a multimeter

► CN7

1. SUB Communications signal

2. SUB Communications signal

3. SUB Reset signal

4. 5V

5. Ground

6. 12V

7. Empty pin

8. Power SW signal

9. Water leakage signal

10. 5V

11. Inverter Communications signal

12. Inverter Communications signal

13. Ground

How do you test those? What setting on the multimeter? I am a newbie. :)

@mrpipes3 set your meter to AC Voltage first (can't tell you that it is rectified so you want to start with that. Select the 50V range than measure with the power on (careful that you do not accidentally cross wires etc. or get zapped). Then place black probe on either pin 5 or pin 13 and check woth the red probe on pin 4, pin 6 and finally pin 10. Compare the voltages against the listed ones. If they are way off try your meter in DC Voltage mode and compare. Signal lines can usually not be measured with a multi meter unless you have data from another machine to compare them with.

Also, I have a cheap multimeter, is it normal that I read 6.6 volts where it should be 3.3 or like 24 volts where 12 should be? It's almost like it is double what it should be. 5.5 volts reads as like 8ish on my multimeter. Not sure if I can trust my meter because it say 1.5% + 10 for accuracy and the lowest setting is 200 volts.

I didn't see you responded earlier. Thank you soooo much my wife is trying to buy a new one. :) I have been having intermittent power problems. I took board out and put the same ones back in. I see both led lights blinking red and everything seems to work as normal. Should they be green? Blinking? What does red blinking lights indicate?

@mrpipes3 change your meter to either AV or DC voltages (opposite from what you have used to originally measure) and let us know what you get. It's a analog (needle) or digital (LED readout) meter? I am okay with using inexpensive equipment for stuff like that. Nothing wrong with being frugal :-)

Let me see if I can figure out the blinking lights.

After a power outage the machine wouldn’t power on. Opening the top lid and removing the front face, I had access to the display board. I disconnected the display board connector and immediately reconnected it. Machine magically powered on.

Power went out again later in the year. The above trick didn’t work for me this time. My inverter board (board on the right in your picture) has a red LED, and when I press the power button, control board (left board) energizes a flashing red LED.

At least you have green LEDs.

I’m having the same problem, only when I plug washer in the logic board blinks green light, and nothing on the inverter board. Once I push the power button, I hear a slight click and then the inverter board along with the logic board blinks green. I’ve seen mostly everywhere say their board blinks red. So I don’t know what a green light means. Please help!

Hmmm, I forgot which lights blink and what color but I got it working with one of the boards in the back bottom. I think I looked on eBay and found a company that would take them back if they didn’t fix it and bought both. I only needed one and it has worked fine ever since. I did plug it into a surge protector now.

I replaced the one pictured on the right in the picture above. The lights on both boards blink red. Thanks for all your help.

@Ben Custer

Hi Ben

I have the same problem. Could you please share the eBay seller information? I tried but couldn't find a seller would take it back if didn't fix. Btw, my washer is "wf42h5000awa2 01", my control board is "DC26-00052A", it's very hard to find on the market, I'm wondering if samsung doesn't use it anymore. Any one has the same problem with me?? Please help~

I am having the same issue with my Samsung wf42h5000aw/a2. It shut down completely in the middle of washing. No power at all, I replaced the inverter.....nothing. So I replaced the secondary board next to the inverter, it powered on to allow me to unlock the door. Then the board started flashing and clicking . Then no power again. So now what??? Do I replace the sub pcb, do I replaced the wire harness?? Without a washer for almost three weeks. Help!

- de

Similar situation. No power, just a single click. Both boards (PCB and inverter) are blinking green. I replaced the PCB, and new one blinks red. Should I replace inverter board as well?

@ryanschafter the board on the left looks like the power board. Anything unusual (burned, darkend) etc. on that board? anything that looks, well "odd"?

- de

No only thing is the light flashes green.. and the right board which I replaced cause majority everything on internet said that was out it flashes red.. the ones that said both flashing red there's powered on

- de

I'm color blind but I guess the board on left blinks green and the one on right blinks red .. the one on right I replaced
