Preguntas 85 Ver todo

Anyone know what this annoying audio noise is on hero 5 footage

https://youtu.be/L7bxqdG5sGk

Here is a sample video, the noise really kicks in at 10sec in.

NO - it isn't anything rattling on me

NO- it isn't my bike rattling.

The noise doesn't sync with anything the bike is doing or the terrain.

Has anyone else experienced this noise

Hi @chazxlt ,

It sounds as though there is something loose in the camera and the microphone is picking up the noise.

Do you get the noise in videos that you take, when the camera is held motionless?

If not, do you hear a “rattle” in the camera when you gently (stress gently)shake it?

If you do then you need to open the camera to find the source of the rattling noise.

Here’s a link to the fixit GoPro Hero5 Black guide which may be of some help.

Hi @jayeff

Thanks for your suggestion, but there isn't any evidence of anything loose inside.

The noise sounds like the camera is making it when it's in motion, like maybe the way it switches mics in wind mode, it sounds electronic to me, there's nothing rattling inside or outside the camera. The noise is still there in stereo mode too though, but the audio is even worse coz of the louder wind noise

Hi @chazxlt ,

Is it still there when the camera is motionless, you didn't say?

Hi @jayeff

No, it isn't there when motionless. It must be to do with it's sensors reaction to movement

Hi @chazxlt ,

Have you checked if the camera's firmware is up to date.

It may be that an update may resolve the problem.

Alternatively if you've recently updated the firmware and you didn't have the problem before the update, it may well be the cause of it.

Just a thought.

Try driving in a car. Cars on a road are much more smooth than a mountain bike. It may help pinpoint the issue.
