So I got 2 macbooks pro mid and early 2012
I the mid 2012 has a little rust (the client says that I never got wet) and the keyboard doesn't work and the power button
So I want to use the keyboard from the early 2012 mbp but I can't connect the display on the logic board of the mid 2012 mbp but on the early mbp I can use the connector.
Am I doing something wrong?

The Early 2011 & Late 2011 models use a slightly .025 mm wider connector. Apple started using a different vendors product on the Mid 2012 model which is not quite the same size.
You can fix this two ways - You can carefully file the edge down a bit (both sides ever so slightly) or replace the display cable its self with the 2012 version.
Do keep in mind the 2011 models have an FaceTime HD and the 2012 model has FaceTime 720.

Lets clarify what you have Apple didn't offer an Early 2012 model. Are you really working with an Early 2011?

i want to set a mid 2012 macbook pro inside an early 2012 to test it, because the logic board is has water damage, and to avoid buying a new keyboard i want to make sure its the keyboard and not the logic board

Can you ID the system as I don’t know of any 2012 Early Unibody system. Reference the systems listed here: EveryMac - All MacBook Pro systems.
Are you mixing retina systems with the older unibody systems?

I would love to see the About this Mac screen where it shows 2012 as that would be a bug! We could post to Apple.
