6S Plus freezing after replacing screen

Ok so I'm having a weird problem. I couldn't find anything about this around. I have been trying to replace my screen. The screen works fine when it's apart, however when trying to clip it into place it stops working. First the phone freezes and then after a few seconds the screen goes black. I have to turn it off holding the power and home button and then wait a little while for it to turn on while separated again. At first it would not turn on at all but after reseating the connections it powers up just fine. I thought maybe I could have bent something which could be making contact with a part of the phone it's not supposed to when fully seated or perhaps it is when it makes contact with a small piece of copper at the bottom of the phone near the charging port and where the home button sits. It will still work fine at 99% seated and seems to freeze when the very bottom right corner clips in. What could be causing this? I'm stumped. I will also mention that I'm one of the fools that forgot to disconnect the batter before removing the screen however as stated everything works fine until fully seated. I also managed to backup the phone while it was like this.

Please help!

Thanks

Here are a few things to try.

1. With the battery unplugged hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain the residual power in the capacitors and other components on the logic board.

Plug battery back in and test it again.

2. Another thing is to hold the power + home button for 15 seconds a few minutes after the phone is on to force a hard reset and see if it works when you turn it on again.

Is the screen sitting flush on the frame? If not, it be bending / flexing while seated on the frame causing the touch screen to not work properly.

Ok, so I tried all that. Here's some more info. The phone had some water damage. I dropped it water last week and after a few days (I had left it in rice overnight for a couple of nights) I realised there was still water in there due to the fact half of the screen became darker than the other, clearly a backlight filter issue which I believe is a common problem on these phones especially with water damage. I then opened the phone and used a heat gun lightly to dry it. I put it back together and despite the half dark screen it was working fine. I ordered a new screen and LCD and attempted to change it today. Now as stated while I did forget to remove the battery before installing the screen was working perfectly with no backlight issues however like I said when it came to pushing the screen all the way in it would freeze the phone. I posted this message and left it turned off.

When I came back to the phone I powered it on again and it had turned on however shortly after it froze without me trying to push down and the screen had some vertical lines that flashed before turning to a black screen and will no longer power on. I did notice there was some heat coming from the covered part of the board which is next to the power button. It was reasonably hot at one point but no longer seems to heat up. I tried changing it back to the old screen with no luck. It is still recognised by iTunes but it says it's in recovery mode. I have a set of electrical testers if that would help me in identifying the problem at all?

Okay since the phone has been liquid damaged then I recommend taking it to a reputable repair shop that does board level repairs for liquid damage evaluation.

It sounds like some damage / corrosion is still on the logic board under the metal shields. Leaving it for too long may cause the board to have permanent damage.

The thing that gets me though is that it had been working perfectly fine until I tried replacing the screen and even then it worked fine until I tried to push the screen all the way down. I'll be having a look myself I think.

I have a question about removing the shields from the logic board. Should I attempt it or would most of the damage be done outside of the shielded area? I have read some things about them being removed and although it seems quite difficult I may get a different phone in the meantime and still attempt to fix this. Like I said though, I don't understand why the phone would work perfectly fine with the screen out of the frame and then when seated properly would just freeze. Has anyone every experienced this?
