HDMI no signal even though TV recognizes the HDMI

I have a un85hu8550. Even though the TV recognizes that an HDMI is plugged into each of the 4 ports I still get no signal. I’ve by passed my receiver, reset the TV, updated firmware, left it unplugged all night. Still nothing. Funny thing is I was using HDMI 3 last night playing PS4 and now I have nothing. Any ideas? Menu works fine, Smart Hub and all that work fine.

My UN65HU8700 does the same! We've tried all the same thing! We turn it on, in 15 minutes, we have sound and wait about another 15 minutes for a picture. Ugh! Samsung told me to take it to a repair shop but I feel that this is a common problem and should be a recall issue.

I have the same problem - working ok the night before then "No signal" message appeared next morning. List of channels all saying "No Information!

I just had same issue described above. HDMI been working fine for ages prior to today. When I saw check connection error I checked connections…then I got a new HDMI out of package to check. I tried HDMI ports 1 thru 4. I tried multiple devices (computer bluray) I turn on device the TV recognizes then in a few seconds check connection error pops up. Samsung sucks!

Yes indeed, Samsung sucks. I have an Samsung UN50M5300 smart tv, sparsely used I wanted to start using it in my bedroom, it doesn’t see the DirecTV box. The Element tv works fine. The samsung no such luck. I reset, did it all, but the two HDMI ports don’t work. I don’t even remember who I bought it from. It’s a disgrace.

I had exactly the same problem. Waited a week and a half for technicians to come out and fix the problem..... Just for them to do a "Factory Reset". Apparently the normal user of the TV is not allowed to know how to do it. Luckily Google has the answer!

Hi @E.M.

Have you checked if the TV has the latest firmware Ver.1290.4 installed?

Also being only 9 months old it is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Get it fixed or replaced under warranty.

All of the HDMI ports are controlled by a single control IC. It sounds like some portions of the controller are working as expected (it can recognize that something is there). However, the controller is not passing along an actual signal. This can happen due to a number of reasons, most of which are internal to the IC. This unit need to go to a repair shop to have the IC changed. The other alternative is to swap out the main board that has the HDMI inputs on it.

After purchasing 3 different HDMI cords, none really working, the solution ended up being me purchasing a hybrid USB -HDMI adapter from Amazon. I plug the USB end in the laptop and one end of the HDMI in to end of the USB adapter, the other end into the HDMI port of the TV. I now have the visual and sound from the laptop on the TV.
