iPhone 6 Restore Error 3 repair

Hello, I recently bought an iPhone 6 on ebay in the condition that it came up to the iTunes screen. I tried to kick it out of the loop, which didn't work. I then restored it, and it always fails with an error 3 while it is restoring the firmware.

The board looks like it got a slight amount of water damage. I know this error relates to the baseband. I have soaked the board in 99% alcohol, but it didn't help. I also cleaned the board with a brush. It looks clean.

Do I need to remove and reball the baseband ic?

Check the BBPMU voltages first before reballing the BBCPU.

The thing with water damage is that you never really know what will be affected. Ideally, this board needs to go in an ultrasonic cleaner first, soaking in IPA isn't enough.

Hmm, if you have to ask how to test the outputs of the BBPMU, then I thinks it's fair to say that this is probably a repair that is above your current abilities.

If you want to learn, then find the schematic for this phone (sorry, we can't share them here but they are easy to find online) and look for the IC called U_PMICRF on page 32. It will have all of the voltage outputs but you will need to look at the first page of the schematic to find where the components are so you can probe them.

It probably is above my skills, but I paid only 15 dollars for this iPhone so I have nothing to loose besides my time. Also, I would like to learn. Do I check the VDD or Vreg?

How do I test this? I would think to test between a screw whole for ground and a test point on the board.

I tested voltage at the 4 inductors L3201-L3204 and they didn't have the expected voltages. In fact, they seemed to be shorted to ground.
