I have a ipod touch 1st genteration 8gb.. It's had a problem with charging for a pretty long while,but when I plug it into the computer it was fine. Now I can''t even do that. I can't turn it on at all. it's just flashing black and white when I do. It's not dead, It's above 20% charged. Can someone help?

taylor, it is my opinion that you need to replace the battery. Not sure what difficulties you had charging it "for a long time" but I do believe that your battery is at the end of its lifespan. Once your battery is discharge below a certain threshold, your device will be no longer recognized and no longer accept a charge. So start with the battery and go from there. Do a hard reset once it is installed and trouble shoot from there. Good Luck and let us know what you accomplished.

How do i hard set it, what does that mean? I'm sorry I'm just no pro at electornics. I guess I can google it? I'll try a new ipod battery and if that works you are my hero (:
Hard reset is done when you press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button , until the Apple logo appears.

taylor, when you say you it has problem with the charging, give more information about that. Did it charge at all or not? At this time it does sound like you will need a new battery, but more information would be nice. When you say it is 20% charged, is that when your Touch is not plugged in and does it charge more than that?
