New SSHD and clean install of high sierra and it won’t boot.

I was able to bootin safe mode once and o restarted several times to see if it worked better but when I shut it down and turn back on the progress bar goes to the end and just stays there it doesn’t boot. I’m new to Mac OS I was wondering if someone could help me?

A common issue with the 13" models is the HD SATA cable breaks down so it interferes with the movement of the data, you'll need to replace it. Here's the IFIXIT guide: Remplaza el Cable del Disco Duro del MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mediados 2012 and here's the part you'll need: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable. I strongly recommend you place some electricians tape when the cable rests in the uppercase to help prevent the rubbing on the rough aluminum case. Also don't over do the bends as the fold wires inside are fragile.

I would redo your SSHD hybrid drives format and re-install the OS again, then restore your files from your backup.

The cable seems to work fine with old hd. I’m waiting on a new cable. Thanks for your time. I will respond soon

Thats a common condition as a onboard SSD cache within the SSHD is able to push more data through the cable unlike the an older HDD drive. A SSD will also exhibit the same pattern when the old HDD will work and yet the new SSD won't.

Think of it this way... You have a Porsche race car you wouldn't expect it to go into the woods over dirt roads, a Jeep would be a much better vehicle for that. And then you woundn't win the race on the racecourse with other Porsche's with the Jeep would you.

The terrain of the road makes a difference! Likewise, the rate of the data flow is our car in my example and the cable is the road.

Dan, your absolutely right. It worked perfectly so far! I will update once I get the partition repaired. It’s an error I’m getting during first aid say I have corrupt efi partition. Thank you for your hard work

No don't waste your time running First Aid it can't fix this low level issue.

You'll want to reformat the drive and re-install the OS. But first backup your stuff with TimeMachine if you haven't already.

Hi da, thank you for your time and energy! Might I inquire as to what might be the correctly reformat and install? I’ve tried cloning and refresh install and basically I’ve had nothing but trouble coming out of install. Or is the cable going to be able to help the install?

Thanks again
