Click wheel tactile dome switch size

Would anyone here happen to know the exact size (and possible purchase location) of the metal dome switches under the click wheel that connect to the logic board?

I recently purchased an ipod with a dead switch (meaning it had no spring left) and I can't for the life of me figure out where to buy this part.

Thanks!

@captainquackers those are extremely difficult to find. You'd have to dig through all the iPod classic question on here since I do remember having answered one of those years back. I would now recommend to get a broken board and use that to harvest the switches from that. If you have difficulty finding one let me know since I do think I still have a bunch of those which you can have for free.

Yeah, I have found some sites that sell these style of switches but without knowing the size on the ipod since I don't have calipers it makes it a risk to buy them.

But yeah, if you have old stuff that you don't need anymore I would definitely take it off your hands.

oldturkey03 i have the same problem, i cant't press next button on my 5th gen. beside replacing the whole board, can't you just put dome tiny tin foil co make it contact to hte board (clickwheel and the board)?

@a1136cf256gb don't use tin foil. It could shorten things out. Use something non-conductive and place on top of the dome. See if that works. Check the switch with a multimeter and see if it shows continuity when depressed.

Snaptron is an American manufacturer of tactile metal domes located in Colorado. I'm the marketing manager at Snaptron and would be glad to provide some samples of these to fix your dead button. If you don't know the size, I could send a variety if you like. The dead dome on your device was most likely manufactured in China. Reach me at sales@snaptron.com
