Preguntas 160 Ver todo

No image or backlight, but has power.

I have two A1407 displays that both will not display any image or power the backlight.

Troubleshooting info:

  • There is no image whatsoever
  • There is no backlight
  • MagSafe charger works
  • Display is correctly detected under System Information
  • Tried working Thunderbolt cable
  • Tried working power supply

Has anyone had an issue with and subsequently repaired the main logic board or the LCD panel?

Did you get to the bottom of this, Alexy? I have the exact same problem.

Lets see if we can narrow down the issue. Plugged in to your system and powered. Take flashlight and place it on the screen at an angle are you able to see your desktop icons? If you do then you know the issue is the back light driver which has failed.

Update (03/03/2018)

Did you haver a power surge or lighting strike?

You'll need to find a schematic and trace out the voltages on the logic board, most likely its gone.

Hi,

I tried this already and there is no image on the LCD.

No, these are secondhand models I acquired separately. No surges that I'm aware of, both have good power supplies. Speakers and camera work so it has to be the LCD or logic board.

I have the schematic and will go in and start probing the test points, but is this a common failure with a known cause on these logic boards?

I've replaced three Supertex HV9982 3-channel switch-mode LED driver IC, a few bad cables assemblies and a cracked screen. Otherwise these monitors are durable.

Hi Dan

I’ve the same issue. But I can see with the flashlight. What should I do ?

@kevin833 - You'll need to dig in checking the backlight connections both the logic board and the display checking the voltages.

If this is too much then you'll need to find someone with the deeper skills to help you.
