Damaged iSight Socket on the LB - kernel_task @ 400% - fan at 6000 rpm
Hello,
Note: To Forum sysadmin, I typed up my question on the US web side, and when I logged in was redirected to the FR web site, my question was gone. This SUCKS!
So long story short, I damaged the iSight socket from my LB while changing the battery. This socket is now separated from the LB and it can not be resoldered (the LB tracks went with the connector).
Diagnostics says PFM006 (SMC), NDC001 (iSight), PPN001 (Power supply) might be problematic.
I hacked up the kernel extensions (check here: https://www.davidschlachter.com/misc/ker...) to avoid the throttling and to return my computer to a usable state, though it annoys co-workers because it sounds like a jet during take off.
iStat Pro shows no temperatures on the Left Fin Stack and Right Fin Stack.
1) Can I do anything to override readings of the missing sensors to leave that kernel extension in its right place, because I suspect that turbo boost is also affected.
2) Where are those two sensors physically exactly?
TIA
Stephane

No your question didn't get lost!
IFIXIT has a few foreign sites to support people who speak different languages. It takes some time for someone to translate and post the english version to the main site. So when you jump between the sites things are not in perfect sync.
