How is your TV hooked up? HDMI or AV?

Hi @iambeautybird ,

With the TV turned On, did you try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to see if an image was there or not? You didn't specify.

Just turning off the lights is not good enough to detect an image.

This will help a bit with the diagnosis, as if an image is detected then you have a backlight problem whereas if there is nothing at all then it is more likely a power problem or mainboard problem.

See the Chosen Solution below on what to do regarding further checks by you.

My tv went black but still have sound and everything that said so what I do next

- de

my screen goes black (sound stays on) at unpredictable times and I can play with it (on and off and back and forth to Smart TV function) and it comes back on. Then I sit back and wait for the next black out-can be minutes, hours or days. And I’m hooked up to Direct TV. They checked out the cable hook up and said it was fine. My feed also comes through a home entertainment system.

@egormxo verify that you have no image on all inputs. If it remains dark, unplug it and push the power button for about one minute, then plug it back in. See if that resets your TV.

If it remains dark, use a flashlight and angle it against the screen with the TV at a station where you can hear the sound See if you can make out shadows or shapes. If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed. If you do not see anything, unplug your set and remove the back. then visually check the boards for any obvious damage like domed or leaking capacitors. Check all the wiring and unplug the wires and plug them back in to make sure they are properly seated. Post some images of all of your boards with your question. Use this guide Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente for that so we can see what you see. It is possible that this is either a power board issue or a T-con board issue.
