Building computer in old gateway 2000 case

I have a old gateway 2000 case that’s has ATX motherboard screw holes. The pci card slots are in the right place. But the power supply is different but I think a SFX PSU will work. All I need to work on is the fixed IO shield. I’m not sure it’s worth trying to build a new computer in this case?

I’m not sure if this is a off topic question.

Here’s the case:

This I the IO shield:

you mean the IO shield? the metal thing over the motherboard connectors?

- de

Ya. Didn’t know what to call it.

that is removable. hold on while I find instructions.

- de

Well the one on this case isn’t removable. So I’m going to buy a Dremel to remove it and make it fit the new ones in.

I Love Sleeper PC's I have seen people use older case's but as old as it makes me feel Id say this is old enough to be considered a Sleeper PC.

you may find yourself cutting metal and splicing cables for I/O but if you want something as a hobby build trust me people will look at this PC and wont expect it to be running the new hardware you have installed.

heres a video of a guys IBM sleeper good luck with your build.

Yep that’s exactly what I want it to be like. I think the case is 1998 but it still should fit all the new stuff in it.

funnily enough I own a working Gateway Performance 450 and it look nearly identical to this except the 450 has a much larger case. I don't think I could bring myself to part it out for a Sleeper build as I still have windows 98 on it with all my original games.

I never knew how to remove it by I found this. it shows how, it also made me laugh. I was expecting him to use the screwdriver to pry it out or something. HIS IS BACKWARDS SO REMOVE FROM INSIDE THE CASE
