Hello Jane, can you try manually pressing the power button on the TV itself instead of the Remote?

Hi @John Eifert,

What is the model number of your TV?

Is there a pattern to the blinking light, e.g. 4 blinks - pause 4 blinks pause etc?

Hi @daisyface ,

Try a power reset and see if this resolves the problem.

Turn off the TV

Turn off the TV wall power outlet and remove the TV power cord

Press and hold the TV's Power ON button for 30 seconds and then release the button.

Plug in the TV power cord back into the wall outlet and turn on the outlet.

Switch on the TV and see if it now works OK.

What is the model number of the TV?

Were there any storms or blackouts just before the problem occurred with your TV?

It's not working on my JVC TV I've tried more than once

Hi @ Kassandra Mungia,

What is the model number of the TV?

Is the power light showing at all?

If it is, have you tried turning the TV on using the TV's Power On/Off button and not the TV's remote control unit button?

Hi we have a Panasonic th-55dx600u TV that turns on for 1 sec then turns itself off & the red standby light flashes every 3 seconds

Hi folks - yes I have a Panasonic Viera which for 2 years behaved perfectly then started to ‘not respond’ when reconnected to power. My thinking was that I needed to power down on occasions to prolong the life of TV but that seems like a bad idea with these TVs because you cant get them to go again! - no lights, nothing - googled it of course and tried all the fixes which did work - my point is that the first occasions I booted again by disconnecting from power for 30 + secs reconnecting then pushing power button — later for longer periods and then adding a program or volume button. The last time I waited 3 days and periodically tried the combination of fixes - this time I waited 5 days plus 90 secs disconnected from power.

So be patient and don’t buy a new TV yet - that is if you can be without it for lengthening periods - I just wont risk powering down from now on - I’ll let you know if this all means slow death TV and no more Panasonics for me. Share if you agree.

So did your tv come on after 5 days and 90 sec disconnected from power?

- de

deborah leonard not really a good fix is it? Migth as well not have a TV at all

- de

Hi Gwenn yep the 5 days and 90 secs worked, previously it had been 3 days + a different combination of buttons and holds and different previous to that as well. I have had 5 occasions where there was no response and I systematically worked through the fixes suggested in these posts. What seems to be happening is that the same fix doesnt work each time and the reset seems to be taking longer hence the comment about slow death - good luck!

I have done all the above I left it on for a week then when I turned it off it would not turn on again I am going to leave it now and try again tomorrow. Once it’s on I can do anything with it so weird

Hi @Nathan Jump,

Is the TV’s power LED on or blinking at all, you didn’t say?

If it is blinking here’s a link to the Power LED Blinking timing chart, taken from the TV service manual

If it is blinking continuously without a pattern this is the most difficult problem of all to find. You would need to start with the power supply and work you’re way through the TV as to what the problem may be.

If there is a pattern to the blinks it is easier as the blinking timing chart tells you where to check first.

If there is no power LED then here’s the link to the No Power troubleshooting flowchart that may help.

The manual shows how to remove the boards from the TV and also has full schematics which is a great help.

Hi I have a Panasonic 50” model number P50fn0117k the standby light comes on o press the power button plus the power button on the remote the tv comes on for a second and then turns itself off have tried to leave unplugged for 30 seconds then plug back in then hold the power button again on the tv for 30 seconds but it continues to do the same thing ?? Any suggestions ??

- de

@Louise-marie Bailey ,

The idea is that you press and hold the TV's power button for 30 seconds when the TV is unplugged so as to dissipate any remaining power from the TV that could potentially be maintaining any corrupted settings which are preventing the TV from operating normally. After this time release the power button and plug the TV power cord back into the wall outlet and try to turn it on.

If it still won't turn on then you'll have to disconnect the power from the TV and remove the back cover and initially visually inspect the boards for any signs of damage such as heat affected or burnt out components or bulging or blown capacitors especially on the power board.

If everything seems to be OK then you will have to start doing "live" testing to check if the voltages being supplied by the power board are there or not and if so are they the correct values.

Be aware that live testing involves testing for voltages on the power board when exposed potentially lethal voltage is present. If you don't know how to do this then don't, it's not worth it, call the experts

It would be easier with a service manual as it would have the schematics for the TV but unfortunately I couldn't find one online

Tried everything on my Panasonic to get the perfect picture but no joy ???

I have a Panasonic TH-P42X14A - I recently moved house, plugged in TV and it came on and then turned itself off - and keeps doing that... the standby red light flashes ... will try holding down power button after unplugging and hopefully that will work or it's a new TV for the family-room! Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @bcoy

Is there a count pattern to the blinks?

Click on the link for the "Power LED blinking timing chart" in my answer just above, to see what the problem may be. I realize that it is not the same model but Panasonic usually use the same LED error codes for all their plasma TVs

You may have to remove the back cover and check if any cables were accidentally loosened etc by the TV being moved. Do this with the power disconnected from the TV.

Try this. Seems to work for me, all the time when my plasma malfunctions. This resets the unit to factory settings.

SELF-CHECK INDICATION AND FORCED FACTORY SHIPMENT SETTING:

Switch on the unit.

While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [MENU] button on the remote control for more than 3 seconds.

''A screen with will pop up, displaying all tested parameters and any malfunctioning parts. Exit from that screen.

EXIT:

Disconnect the AC cord from wall outlet or switch off the power with [POWER] button on the main unit.

Let me know if this helps…

Hi @George Arian,

Here’s the service manual for the TV. Be patient as it takes a little while to go from processing to download, after you have passed the security test and clicked on Go to Download, below the document preview box.

Go to Sect.7.3 on p.20 to view the No Power trouble shooting flowchart. This may be the best place to start to find out what is wrong with the TV.

This worked for a friend, he called Panasonic, and was asked if the TV was plugged into a Plug extension? it was, the Engineer said try plugging it in directly to the wall, and bizarrely, It worked???? no idea how??

Hi @Betty Garcia

Are you sure that the red light blinks 4 times?

Looking at the blink error codes from the service manual for your model, that code is not there.

Maybe you should still check the A board for any obvious component damage.

The reason why TV's turn on after so many days is that the capacitors have discharged and restored to normal, but what this also means are that they aren't holding full charge and on their way out..if you leave your TV off for say 4 days this should prove it..or just see if any capacitors have popped, be pretty obvious..
