What is so wrong with my Mac that even Apple repair can’t fix it?

I’m on here to perhaps get some more clarity as to what is happening with my computer. I purchased the newest MacBook Pro this summer. I take great care of it, it’s never been close to water. I am a musician at Berklee College of Music so I use Pro Tools and other music software a lot.

It started when I was having issues with the B key. Then my charger would not cooperate. I went in to Apple and they cleaned the B key and gave me a new charger.

It slowly got worse and eventually my computer completely died and wouldn’t charge. I plugged it into every outlet of my house and nothing happened. I brought it into an Apple Store and they shipped it to get fixed. They replaced the logic board and the keyboard. I got it back today, backed it up with my data, and plugged it in. I left it plugged in charging for two hours and when I came back it was dead. Again, I tried plugging it in and nothing.

So the same thing happened to my computer again! Even after they replaced my logic board. Does anyone have any explanation????

Do you have a surge suppressor or UPS? Depending on where you live in Boston the power can be uneven and have surges. Two of my clients are located in the Back Bay and both need UPS's for their systems as it's so bad. They are in older buildings so the wiring is also not that great.

Hi @amaes, since you mentioned about sending to Apple Store, I would recommend them to do a full detailed check on your MacBook hardware, from mainboard, batteries, charger ports, just bring your charger along for them to check together.

Sometimes there are too many request, which they may have overlooked to check / left out.

I agree you'll need to bring your system back to the Apple Store with your charger & USB-C cable. Talk to the service manager to have your system either repaired or replaced (take note of your systems S/N to you can verify later).

If you haven't gotten AppleCare + I would recommend you do get it covered with an extended service contract.

It seems that you might have a short on some output devices like the mousepad that is causing the motherboard not to function normally for its own safety. I would take it to a well known local repair shop with good reputation and have them test it.
