Home Button Not Working

I attempted a rear camera replacement, but after I couldn't get the screw off in step 16 I simply stopped, reassembled the phone and tried to start it up. It wouldn't start up. (The link to the guide is below)

I retraced my steps and plugged in the two screen cables and power supply (from steps 14 and 15) and then started up the phone in mid-assembly mode and I got power to the screen. It actually stayed somewhat frozen on the apple start screen for minutes and minutes. Eventually I was able to power it off and reassemble the phone and while it did start up the home button and Touch ID don't work. I should note that right now with this problem, the startup process takes just over 5 minutes.

I've come across other posts recommending that people uninstall their back cameras and they were able to have success but that is the one step I cant take because the left screw in step 16 will not loosen. (tried rubber band and also varying pressure/angle -- the screw is not stripped but it seems as though the PH000 bit doesn't lock into that screw head)

I'm going to order a different PH000 screwdriver in hopes to file it down into the right size and shape for that screw and finish the repair. As for now no amount of restarting or reassembling is helping me to regain function of the home button. (Currently using assistive touch to help get around)

I have the seal that will ensure water resistance but I haven't applied it yet since the repair isn't complete. Would that affect the function?

Here is the guide I'm referring to:

I'm not aware of any Long-Screw issues with the iPhone 7. That happens when you over tighten the screws for the screen assembly bracket. That said, think back to when you re-assembled the device. These screws really should not be tightened down with any force.

The other possibility is that you may have damaged a flex cable. These can tear quite easily. Look at them again under magnification to see if there is any damage.
