Why can't my phone be charged after replacing battery?

I'm not sure if this question is accurate, but I will try to explain.

This phone was bought damaged,it would try to boot only to freeze at the apple screen, and there was no background light. I bought it because I read somewhere that a restore might fix the problems. After plugging it in the computer, the apple came up, and so did the light. After some time on the charge, the light turns on and off, but no progress on the booting. He also gave me a new battery he bought for the iphone, so after replacing the old one the issue remains. I then noticed corrosion on the board, I suspected it because the screen shows sign of water damage. Some around the backlight and some round where the battery is touching the logic board. I removed this with alcohol and a toothbrush. Now the light is stable, but it won't charge from the computer anymore so I can restore it, only from the wall. It's like the phone gets more juice or something, because now the power and home buttons work aswell, they didn't before. And when connected to a wall charger the restore symbol on the phone shows up. As soon as i take it out from the wall charger though, it shuts down. I have tried many different cables, none seem to work.

I love this kind of projects, but this is just weird. Is the logic board faulty?

henrik91, I would change the battery first. I would think that this is part of your issue with the start from a wall charger. It does supply higher amperage than the USB port. Also connect it to your computer on a USB port that comes of the motherboard and not through a Hub or anything. Check your port connector for any corrosion, debris and bend pins. Good Luck

henrik, take a look at those and see if that helps.

Thank you for the reply, and it just so happens that I bought a new one yesterday. I live in Norway so it will take some time to get it, but as soon as I have tried it, you will know.

The only weird thing though, is that I got one spare battery with the phone, one he stated was new. So now I'm hoping he just bought something defect, or is it possible that the phone kills batteries?

By the way, I have a macbook. Is the USB port connected to the motherboard?

henrik, may be the new battery was just to old to hold a charge. I always like to start with the battery since then I know that it is good and it helps me to trouble shoot. there are a few more things that are possible, like a shortened out fuse on the logic board. But since it works from a wall adapter I do not think that it is the problem with your phone. I am going to attach a picture to my answer and you can check those fuses and see if it helps. Yes, I believe the USB port on your macbook is good to use. How is the weather in Norway...:-)
