New Battery is not being recognized by my MBP

I bought a used Macbook Pro Mid 2012 model number A1278 from a buddy of mine. I made a few small repairs and upgrade but the main one I needed to do was the battery. Without having the laptop plugged in with the charge it would not work. So I bought a nicely reviewed battery off Amazon followed the guide turned the laptop over and nothing happened. When I plugged the charge backing to the laptop the light stays green and the little indicator light on the front of the computer blinks 5 times before it turns on. Showing I am having issues with the new battery. But here is what is getting me when I unplug the charger while the laptop is turn on the computer will stay turned on the only thing that happens is the display will turn off, but the fans will keep running. I have tried reseting the SCM and all that other stuff I have tried putting the old battery back in and all that. I don't know what else to check.

This is what I get from coconutBattery. This is with the battery without the charger plugged in and with the charger plugged in. Nothing changes.

Download this gem of an app: CoconetBattery it will allow you to see whats happening with the battery and the charger. Paste a screenshot of the main window one with the MagSafe plugged in and the second unplugged.

Is the battery an OEM battery? If It's not then that is the problem, many aftermarket batteries for MacBooks are not proper and could actually cause the board to short. Try a NVRAM reset as well.

What happens when you put your old battery back in? If it still responds in the same way I'm suspecting the SMC logic on the logic board has a problem.

The old battery died so I had it replaced and this started

OK, do you have a friend with a 13" MacBook like your's? See if you can borrow his battery to test your system or get another battery. You may want to try another source.
