Did you try restarting the phone?

- de

Yes. It only let's me try again after 1hour. There's got to be a way to get into the phone. At this point it's useless.

- de

Try hooking up a usb adapter with a usb mouse and unlocking that way.

I'm currently also having this problem, I can remember the pattern, normally unlock with fingerprint, but wont let me use this option, can anyone help please

unfortunately, it is poor policy for a professional to bypass the password, and get access to anothers data, so most reputable stores wont even gather the knowledge to do that. it is considered "Hacking" and in some states and provinces is actually illegal to practice due to privacy laws.

however, if you are the owner of the phone, it will be linked to your google ID. as long as you have that, run a factory reset on the device, and it will erase the passcode. on re-activation, it will ask for the password to your google ID instead. this is the ID you use to access the app store, and is able to be reset if you dont remember it, with a couple security questions.

Resetting the google id will require you to wait 24-72 hours before using the new passwords to activate a recently reset device.

be aware, a factory reset will erase all user data on the device. anything not backed up, will be lost, and is not the responsability of this webpage.

Good answer, the only issue is before going so far into the process, it seems like its some sort of glitch with the lock screen, so lets explore other options first.

sorry, when he said he forgot it, i didnt think that maybe he meant that he didnt forget it, and the system is mistaken. i agree. if the system is making a mistake, then follow Cameron's ideas first.

I have tried that, but it did not work.

- de

its physically impossible for a factory reset to leave the directional arrows on the phone.

Press and hold Volume Up, +Home, +Power all at the same time until you see the samsung logo. then release and you should get a blue screen with a processing circle.

Wait for the command menu. (Some models it will stay on the "no command" screen, in which case you will have to hold power, and press volume up to go to the command menu)

afterwords, go to "Factory data reset" and select "Yes"

it will run through a reset which will delete all of your data including settings, which includes your swipe pattern. If the steps are followed properly, there is a 100% that your pattern will no longer be needed.

if you are registered with samsung, go here and log in https://findmymobile.samsung.com/#home . you can unlock your phone remotely on your desktop or laptop. and you can do a lot of things to. i’ve done it. so much better you don’t have to factory reset your devices and lose all your data in your devices. hope it helps

I've tried unlocking it through that, but it always says something went wrong, without letting me use fingerprints or any other way to get in :(

Here's what to try first. A simple restart.

Try and power off the phone. I know with my s7 you need to enter a passcode before turning it off, so see if that works, and if it does, then you can try turning the phone back on and seeing if it works then.

If that doesn't work, report back and we will try and find other options. I want to try and figure this out before we go with what Scott said about factory resetting the entire device, losing all your data.

I'm in the same situation. Before enabling the directional code, the phone used to give me a second method to unlock when the first failed. When the fingerprint failed, it asked for my pin. It let me to change to the directional code, accepted my verification, and has not let me back in since. And to my recollection, didn't tell me it was going to stop offering that second method.

What is ironic is that this option is nested in the features for people with limited vision or dexterity (i.e. "old people" like me). It seems strange not to have a way of undoing this, since it is touted as an adaptive feature.

Unfortunately I never completed my device registration with Samsung, which they say would allow them to unlock it remotely. I have every other single thing associated with my lease/purchase of the phone, including every pin, password, and pattern ever used, just not the one directional code it saw me do twice. Why can it not accept any of these alternate methods which it saw me use hundreds of times?

I still think it's something to do with the vision and hearing settings. Tab the wrong one and the phone puts you out cold.
