loose piece inside, what should I do?

My phone fell out of my pocket once again, I have a fairly thick silicone protector on it, but after this last tumble it sounds as if something broke loose inside it. Should I just leave it, or open it up to get whatever it is out before it does some damage?

The phone seems to be working the same. It's always had horrible reception and still does (any way I can fix that??). If anything, I might say that the battery is draining slightly faster than usual.

So, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'?

i'd have a look but then I just can't help it. You might discover the little gold prong at bottom right of the phone has decided to fall off. take a look at the teardown for the 3g and you'll see the part... bottom right of the motherboard, it forms part of the antenna with the bezel. it's the only part I can imagine falling off after a drop, and would account for your battery drain- your phone is spending it's energy maintaining the signal!. Take a look at a post by Jarret lauderdale about how he repaired his broken antenna if this is what you find. Gold grounding prong on motherboard affect battery life?

if the antenna is there then let us know what your mysterious rattle is...

+ cause I would want to look for where the noise originates from as well. @Brownbailey, you said "fell out of pocket once again" try to find a better way to carry your phone, could get expensive :-)

I've had customers with loose screws in their computers for months till they rolled into just the right spot to short the logic board out.

Yep Mayer... If it ain't broke don't fix it? I'd prefer "prevention is better than the cure" and loads cheaper!!

That wasn't exactly my message. Did I mention the logic board eventually got shorted out and had to be replaced?

Oh no, not the message you send but the attitude of many of your customers, I am sure. Let it rattle and let things be loose for weeks until it "croaks" and then " I want it fixed right now" Sort of like healthcare :-)
