I can't hear my phone calls unless I put it on speaker phone

I have had my phone (LG Escape 3 (k373) 4G LTE) for awhile and it's been without service for a month I just activated service again today on this phone had to get a new SIM card and everything it's with Cricket anyways my phone has always worked when it came to calls however today a friend called me I could hear them crystal clear but they couldn't hear me but what sounded like I was moving my phone around and it was beeping which I didn't hear any beeping in my end but however when I put my phone on speaker phone they could hear me crystal clear so another friend called same issue. And I've never had this issue before today so what do I do? And no my ok Google isn't on as I don't use it not was my microphone muted either I'm at a loss...

I think I might have found the issue and fixed it but won't know for sure until my friend who has been helping me with the calling and letting me know if they could hear me or not calls me later today so I will update this later today thanks for the tips and what not it sparked an idea that just may have fixed the issue

No my phone isnt showing my headphones are plugged in at all and I took the battery out that did nothing so I factory reset my phone 2 times (first with personal settings and the last without personal settings and both times that did nothing the issue still persists so um really at a loss)

No but yes my phone shows it is plugged in to my headphone jack but I tried turning it up but I can not hear enythaing

As you said it seems that the microphone on the bottom of your phone is not work.

Sorry to disagree but I never said "it seems that the microphone on the bottom of my phone is not working" however I did say that my microphone was not muted on both phone calls so I am not sure where you got where I said ny microphone isn't working because it is in fact working

There are more than one micropones on the phone. My meas is that maybe the microphone on the bottom is not work because you said "when I put my phone on speaker phone they could hear me crystal clear", this is another microphone working .

I was able to send my friend an audio recording on Facebook Messenger (which uses my bottom Microphone and I confirmed it works)

It could be your microphone, phones usally have 2 for noise cancelling, one of these could be damaged and loudspeaker can use top microphone as normal call uses bottom mic

Sounds to me like your internal ear speaker has gone bad. When switching to speaker the phone uses a different output speaker, you may want to check and see if your phone is still in warranty.

Also, you can try taking a small brush and cleaning around your earpiece speaker. In some cases dust and other debris can collect and muffle the speaker, and considering how tiny these speakers and their speaker grills are it doesn'take much dust or debris to make it hard to hear.

But i'd bet on the internal speaker needing to be replaced.

The speakerphone on most if not all phones are located at the bottom or the on the back (add-on to previous comment) hope this helps

Well the microphone on top of my phone (near the earpiece) the sound is very muffled almost quiet whereas the microphone on the bottom near my charging port is quite loud and works great (confirmed with the built in voice recorder and Facebook Messenger audio recorder)

Yup that's the one (excuse my earlier mistake of "speaker") I'm a major iPhone guy myself.lol but the problem is at the top near the earpiece. The actual speaker may not be located there but the connections that need to make contact for output sound are usually in the same spot as they activate together when placing or recieving a call.

I'd bet a you a new phone that it's the Earpiece connection or basically the earpiece itself that is the issue here.

I have the same problem . Looks like SIM card issue for me . When I use a different sim it works - others r able to hear my voice without putting in speaker. When I use a particular sim , it doesn’t work unless I put on speaker. The problematic sim created same issue in a brand new iPhone 8 Plus when we tried at the stores....:) so try diff SIM cards and make sure the issue is with sim and not phone . I got a new sim - ported number from damaged one . Now everything works fine .....

I repaired my LG phone front Plastic shield with super glue and plastic like repairing a car windshield.

you run glue along the crack - press it in with hard plastic like a credit card. then use a razor to scrape off the excess.

I did not realize glue got into the ear mic . so i used a Q-tip with a little acetone and rubbed it back and forth and -

presto clear as a bell. DUH!!!!!..

I guess I am sharing because a little alcohol or acetone on that little speaker may clear out any thing in the holes like oils from your skin or like mine
