iPhone 6s Screen replacement goes black after replacement?

I have replaced a couple of screen but I haven't done a 6s. When I was replacing this phone I checked the quality of the new replacement screen, before attaching the camera and home button, by attaching the two connectors and powering it on. It worked fine so I went ahead and attached the camera and home button. When I reattached the connectors again and tested the screen one more time before closing it up, it was black. The phone was on because I could feel it vibrate, but the screen was black. I thought I may have done something wrong so I tried again a couple of times, but each time the same result. I thought maybe the screen was faulty so I tried another one with the exact same steps and got the exact same result. This has never happened to me before. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.

Hi Bill. Did you disconnect the battery prior to disconnecting and connecting the screens? Backlight driver issues are very prevalent on the iPhone 6S. The anode and cathode pins are right next to the ground pins on the connector (J4200) so if you misalign the connector while trying to connect it, you can short circuit the backlight driver circuit for a brief instant. This could cause the backlight filter to blow or cause even more upstream damage (diodes, coils and driver IC).

As a best practice, you really must disconnect the battery before playing around with the screen connectors and only connect it back when everything is done.

Is it okay to disconnect the battery while the phone is still powered on?

This can be a issue because if you were trying to power down a phone that has an unresponsive screen then how do you properly disconnect the battery?

Yes, just be careful if your using metal tools, like a tweezer.

Have you checked the ribbon cables where the LCD connects to the logic board? sometimes the pins may get bent or broken if not connected properly.
