Why doesn't anybody repair Apple Watches

Hi,

I've spent some time now on Google looking for a local or mail-order service to fix a broken screen for Apple Watch gen 2 38mm. All I found so far are places that would exchange the watch for $200+. I've seen plenty of parts online, why is nobody offering it?

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Alex,

The replacement screen itself can cost anywhere from $100-200 plus the cost of a new gasket with the added labor cost is why a repair can cost that much. I would imagine that the repair cost will not go down until screens can be purchased for less then what they are currently going for.

I can't speak for anybody else...but this is why I don't offer the service: Replacement Screen - 180$. Granted I could get it cheaper wholesale but that's a lot of money just for the screen and we haven't even talked about shipping costs, inventory, warranty, labor, profits...

It's hard enough to get people to spend 100-150$ to fix an iPhone, there's not much appetite to spend 200$ + to fix a $269 watch.

Parts are not cheap due to limited supply, and thus demand. With parts and labor this expensive, most people would just spend a couple dollars more to get Apple official repair, which guarantees parts quality and all functions repaired.
