have pc that i want to give to boys club but do not have orig recovery disks. have fisked and formatted, but the os disks i have dont want to install in "dos mode"
how can i proceed??

It seems like your OS disk is probably an upgrade that requires you to already have a version of that OS on the computer. I do not think that you can reinstall the OS unless you have a complete OS disk not an upgrade. You can try and purchase one of ebay or even microsoft. What OS are you trying to install? May be you could consider to get into many of the linux versions that are pretty decent and relative easy to install.

What Model Dell is it and what OS are you trying to install?

I would imagine its Windows seeing as he mentioned 'DOS mode'.

It is an older HP. I do not have the HP recovery disk, only various Dell disks since all my own PCs and laptops are Dell.
