How do I remove databases from cookies cache in Safari Library?

Hi! I have been trying to remove databases in my Safari cache forever. I went to the Apple support page and it says to go to ~/Library/Safari/Databases and remove the folder entitled "Databases" but no such folder named exactly that exists. There are files named "___IndexedDB" and "Databases.db" and a plethora of folders beneath with the names of many of the "database" cookies I am trying to remove but I am concerned about moving all at once as I have banking links that use them to ID me I am sure. I tried to drag the suspect folders to the trash but this did not remove them from the "manage website" Safari preferences page that allows you to delete cookies. Any ideas on how to manage this? I really do not need Orbitz or Free People following me for life. Thanks!!

MBPro 2011 running Safari 11.0. After ordering free credit reports, the websites put up databases that I couldn't get rid of by deleting History, Managing website data, or any other means. They kept popping back again. CBC.ca (Canadian broadcasting), same sad story. This was easy, direct, and it WORKED! Thank you, thank you, vaguy0110. (Deleting the old user account is a terrible idea, inconvenient and inappropriate, like using a bomb to swat a fly.)

This works for me:

Open Finder, then click on "Go" in the menu on top the screen

Then "Go to Folder"

Type or past in and then enter: ~/Library/Safari/Databases

Delete everything in that folder

Close Safari and reopen

(The databases will reappear when you again visit those websites)

I have tried deleting databases from my Safari browser. I have gone to the preferences window, selected manage website data under privacy, and deleted the databases, only to have them reappear. I have deleted my browsing history, I have cleaned up my bookmarks for any websites, I dumped trash. I re-started my computer. I found the database files under my Safari folder in Finder. I saw the database files by name, and deleted them. I repeated the trash, rebooted. I logged on - checked my safari preferences, and the databases are still there. I went again to the database window, and the database files are gone. One of the sites that added a database is one I have not ever searched or purchased from. WTH. My mac is a MacBook pro, my operating system is Sierra 10.12.6. Does anyone have any idea how to get these annoying websites stopped from tracking me? I went dumped cached files under Safari. Deleted the files from trash, rebooted... Voila... Safari privacy manage my data....still there.

Tried this method. If it works like I believe it will thanks so much vaguy0110. If not I'll be back. Looking for more answers.

The brut force way is just creating a new user account and then deleting the old one! Just make sure you have nothing in the users home folder which you want (copy it over before you delete it). You will loose your Safari bookmarks unless you copy them out first as well as your user accounts & passwords for any online services so make note of them as well

I have four accounts on my system to help protect it as well as offer a means to isolate what type of transactions I'm doing over the net. As an example I have an account which I use strictly for my online banking, I have a second one for any buying I do and a third which I use for general surfing. The last is the most protected the Admin account (renamed of course) I only use it to install and maintain my apps. I don't have a guest account on my laptop but I do have on my home system.

Using this approach I can jettison any compromised user account as well as prevent someone tracking some of my activities. Don't forget about opening a Private window option under File within Safari so you aren't tracked and lastly use a good software firewall & antivirus/malware app!

Oh this answer sounds great but I have no idea how to do all of that lol. When you refer to user account do you me my user name on my MacOS or is there a safari user name I am not aware of? I've used Macs since the 80s and their operating systems have become a lot less transparent to me over the generations! But thanks much!!

Your MacOS user accounts. Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups unlock the lock and create a new user. Here's more detail on how: OS X El Capitan: Set up users on your Mac
