AC connector of MacBook Pro is green but no power. What's wrong?

The battery is not charging because the power does not get into the Mac and if I take the battery out the MacBook Pro (15 Unibody Late 2008 and Early 2009) will not switch on even if the magsafe connector is green.

I have changed the MagSafe DC-In Board but it did not fix my problem.

After exchanging parts with my friend's computer, I finally found that it was a motherboad problem.

Is there another computer you can perhaps try your AC adaptor on, just to see if it's a problem with the AC adaptor rather than something on your laptop? It might be something to try.

It is the first thing I checked. I have tried that as a friend of mine has the same computer. We exchanged the AC adaptor(85W). Same thing.

Use a tooth pick on the pins on the AC adapter to see if they move in and out freely. Then take a multimeter and test the pins for full power output. Are you using a 85 Watt adapter? A lessor wattage adapter will give a green light but not power the machine on.

The AC adapter is OK. I have tried it on a friend 's computer( she has exactly the same Macbook pro)and vice versa.

Was the battery removed from your friends Mac when you tried your adapter on hers?

OK, if the AC is good and the MagSafe port good, then it's the battery or battery connector. Download and run Coconut battery and let us know what you find: 0http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba...

I also feel that you are not telling us something. Has anything been spilled into the machine, or is there anything else you can tell us?

Coconut:

Current charge: 1294

Max charge : 4605

Current Capacity: 4605

Design capacity: 4600

Battery load cycles: 267

Battery temp:29.8

Power usage: 11.1

No spill, no nothing.

It seems that it is going the motherboard that is faultly. The question is: is it worth it to change the $800 motherboard ? The drag (click and hold) on the trackpad is not working anymore either. I have had Apple computers since 1985 and only my last 2 machines had a problem : I had to change the superdrive in my mac mini bought in july 2009 and now this with Macbook pro bought in march 2009. Made in China syndrome??
