Sound is coming out of speaker even though headphone is plugged in

It's been 3 weeks that whenever i plug in my headphones the audio is coming out from the speakers and on slight twisting it works. I went to the Moto Service center to get it fixed since my phone is still under warranty. However, today they are saying it's a liquid damage and the whole motherboard needs to be changed which is like 80% of the phone cost. I've asked them to revert it to its previous state where it was working on slight twisting but they did not agree and said it's not possible since its a liquid damage. Just wanted to check if anyone has experienced a similar issue like this before and any solution is highly appreciated.
