My Acer Aspire One ZG5 suddenly won't power on: what to do?

I used it last night, and I was able to shut it down properly. Since I know the battery level is low, I charged it. As soon as the red LED turns green, I pulled off the charger plug. The next day when I opened it; it won't turn on at all. I plugged the charger, the charging led was lit, but pressing the power button won't turn on the unit. My laptop was just a month old. What can I do? Is it really time to go to a technician now?

If your unit is a month old I would take it to the dealer for warranty repair. If you have no local dealer call the Acer service department for assistance. here is a link to the company. Good luck.

I have a Acer Aspire One 725 0487‎. I'm not sure why I was taken to this page. Google must think it's very similiar machine. Anyway mine is out of warranty and I've already taken it completely apart, and no, there are no burned or missing/broken parts, no visible cold solder joints and unfortunately no blinking led saying here's the problem. I looked at the voltage on the power button with power plugged in and battery hooked up and there is about 3 volts at the button that goes away when you push it. Meaning the button it's self is good. Being that it's all SMD tech I really don't have much hope of repairing it myself. but maybe if I knew what board it was for sure (looks like the main board since the battery plugs directly into it and still has no power.

anybody know? what board it is ? I haven't tried to price it yet, or even see if it is sold or swapped as apple does with their proprietary parts. Or at least they did years ago.

remove the battery and the power cord. hold in the power button for 15 seconds to reset the computer. reinstall the battery, plug in the power and try again. Hopefully it will power up. If you have installed RAM in the socket it could be the bad RAM causing this as well.

The power reset worked for me. All other answers appear to have come from people who have never even seen one of these.

For my Aspire one 725 this worked after 30 hours of trying all the practical answers I could find. Hold Volume up and Power On buttons together for 15 seconds. Hey Presto, Magic.

This is a common problem with the Bios being wiped, probably. You will have to recover the bios. The below link will help.

I had a loose connection on the power (inc. USB) board. None of the above worked. The unit was dis-assembled... then, on careful re-assembly the unit powered ON at a test stage (while the top was still off I pressed the power button)
