Why is my iPhone 5 stuck on red battery logo?

Its been on the charger for a long time. I was using it at the store listening to music and it died fully drained dead. I had it on the charger since and its stuck on the battery logo. I did get it to be stuck on black screen and itunes popped up in recovery mode but it didnt let it restore an error popped up. I bought this battery a month ago and never really had any issues. It wont turn on at all it just stays on red battery logo i tried holdng the power and lock button and it goes black but as soon as i let it go red battery logo. I just dont understand everything worked fine until it died. I did notice the dock connecter was unplugged i plugged it back in but its basically no different.

That's ah...you disconnected the dock connector? And didn't notice a difference? Well if you bought a new battery a month ago, that probably isn't the problem. But it could be. Also if the dock connector isn't plugged into the logic board, could be difficult for the battery to charge. Also pretty old phone. May want a new dock connector. Could help it to charge. If you replace both of those. You'll want to have the u2ic replaced, pretty big job, if you don't have the equipment and experience. There's also the possibility of water damage, due to sweat. Yes, sweat from your leg is a thing

believe it or not I think it was because of me updating to 10.3.2 i see online it causes significant battery drainage and my phone did not have this problem until the afternoon of installing the update from last night. the phone is starting to charge up from 3-12% because i downgraded I hope it stays like this!

Yeah, that could be a possibility. I did hear a lot of customers complaining about this. I'm a bit curious as to how you downgraded your firmware. Not so easy anymore

Yeah, I just downloaded the file and pressed shift on my laptop on itunes with my mouse hovered over restore iphone and i was able to pick the file. some files on the website arent verified to go back so 10.3.1 is the earliest.

Possible 2 causes.

First, There is a high chance of battery going bad. Your battery doesnt have enough power to boot the phone. As you said its showing battery symbol that means your phone is good, just check and replace the battery.

After replacing the new battery, Still your phone is not charging It would be charging IC.

You might have to see the repair techinican for that.

I hope it helped you :-)
