How do I Install New Home Button

No where in the teardowns it shows how to remove the home button, or if it comes off. Is it glued on somehow? I need to replace the front assembly of an iPod Touch 4th generation, and all of the replacement parts I can find do not come with a home button installed. Does anyone know how they are attached, if they are at all?

Thanks!

The iPod touch 4th gen has the digitizer and lcd attached and as such should only be bought as a whole assembly. This assy. comes with the lcd and home button attached. The home buttons are behind a metal flex plate which is plastic welded into place with the ribbon cable and switch behind them. Find a suitable replacement assembly that includes the lcd and home button as a replacement and you will save yourself some grief. ebay has them as well as other iPod parts distributors.

I purchased a new lcd/digitiser but it did not come with a new home button. I've used my old one as there were no problems with it, but no I've replaced the screen it doesn't want to work. The flex hasn't been tampered with at all so should still work. How can I test to find out what the problem is? If I take the metal plate off and look underneath, there is the 'spring' that is associated with the home button. Is there anything I need to make sure that is touching to make sure it is working?
