First thing I would attempt is a hard reset by holding down the power button and home button for about 30 seconds or until the phone turns off and back on. Next, I would open the phone back up to check to see if you ripped the home button flex. Even the smallest tear can cause the Touch ID to not function. If you do not see any tears, then reconnect the home button flex just to make sure you didn't fully connect it all the way. If not then I would try to update the phone using iTunes through DFU mode. To go into DFU mode turn of the phone and wait about a minute. Holding the home button down, plug the cord into the phone and continue to hold the home button until you see connect to iTunes on the screen. There should be a prompt on your computer saying update or restore and select update. If that doesn't work then I would try a restore.

If none of that works, then unfortunately the home button flex was damaged during the repair and you will not be able to get the Touch ID working again.

But how is it the home button works and touch ID doesn't ?

They run in parallel of each other so if one stops working the other one will continue to work.

I mean could it be damaged during the repair and still work ?

Unfortunately if you damaged that circuit on the home button flex, there is no way to get the Touch ID working again. The Touch ID is linked to the motherboard itself, so once that breaks there is no fixing it, even with a new home button. The only other possibility, that I didn't mention in my original post, is that you could have broken the connection the home button connects to, which is part of the charging port. You could try a different charging port if you have one and that may fix the problem, but only if there is no tear on the home button flex.

Both of those answers are good answers. For me, putting it half back together. Make sure you've got your display working properly, then disconnect home button and battery. Reconnect the battery. Put the plates back on. Plug the home button cable back in, with its clasp. Turn it back on. Touch ID comes back

I had his happen twice to me. I put the phone back together and tested it and received the message the Touch ID doesn't work. I took it back apart, removed the shield for the Touch ID connector, disconnected it, then put it back together. Both times it worked.

The cable for the Touch ID is very finicky and you need to make sure it's completely connected
