Yoga 2 pro crashed after attempted clean install of windows 8.1

Hi there,

Lenovo yoga 2 pros have wifi and graphics driver incompatibilities with Windows 10, and Lenovo has not released drivers that fix the issue. I was given a referbished yoga 2 pro with Windows 10 preinstalled, and had the incompatibility issues well documented all over the net. So I decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 on the laptop. I made the USB with windows media creation tool for windows 8.1 and valid product key. My laptop did not directly give me the option to boot from it, so I used F12, and selected boot from USB. Then my computer crashed. It will turn off and on, but doesn't get to past the splash page. I can use the NOVO button for startup and the menu options pop up, but once I select an option, any option (start normally, boot menu, recovery) it just goes away to a black lit screen indefinitely. I can't do onekey recovery because the computer doesn't register I choose that option. What do I do to salvage this mess?

Hi,

Can you get into the BIOS setup menu area of the laptop?

If so try enabling Legacy Boot Mode and then try re-installing Win 8.1 from a USB.

Here is a link that may be of some help

Thank you for this idea. I was able to get to the BIOS setup menu from the NOVO button, and selected legacy boot mode, and saved it. However once it restarted, it still did not recognize the USB, and now the NOVO menu (which has an option say where to boot from) no longer works. Clicking the NOVO button turned on the computer like before, but then just leaves me at the splash page like the regular power button would. : / I remade the USB a fresh, too, just in case somehow something went wrong. That didn't help either.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was able to get into the BIOS setup menu from NOVO and enable the Legacy BOOT Mode and save it. However once my computer restarted it still didn't recognize the USB and the NOVO button no longer brought up a menu - it also remained at the splash page.

I was able to access BIOS startup and enable legacy boot up. However when it restarted my computer still didn't recognize the USB and the NOVO menu no longer appears - it stays at the splash page also.
