Won't charge wireless. Qi isn't working.

Just bought a Nexus 7 2013 in VERY GOOD condition. Previous owner says he just had the battery replaced at a local mobile repair shop. Problem -- it isn't not recognizing or being recognized by Qi wireless charging. Charges fine with USB port. I really bought this because of many things including wireless charging? Help?
