Tableta Surface Pro de tercera generación, lanzada el 20 de junio de 2014.

Preguntas 123 Ver todo

Dead, opened up the case, now what?

Surface Pro 3 would not start up.

Tried all the usual button press combinations and even putting it in the freezer. I did notice the charger LED would sometimes blink whilst holding down the buttons, but nothing on the screen.

I suspected the battery, so pulled off the screen with the aid of a heatgun. Unfortunately it reads 8 Volts (versus spec on the label of 7.6V). Label also says the battery is 20 months old.

Is there anything else I can try ?

You have it open I would replace the battery. On some tablet the simple act of disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it is enough to restore the tablet . I have however never heard of this working on a surface but Id give it a try

Is this yours or a customer's. Sometimes this is caused by the CPU overheating on the surface. Because a client had left theirs on during a windows update in a bag and it overheated and never turned on again just turn on no display, post or input.

If data is needed from it you can use a mSata adapter to plug into a desktop computer and hope that it's not bitlocker encrypted.

Its mine. I don't get POST and cannot hear the fan spinning up. I had a previous Surface 3 pro go dead but replaced under warranty. This one went to sleep while connected to the charger and never came back. It has bitlocker, but I store all my data on my network anyway. Just trying to get more life out of it. I recently bought my daughter a Surface Pro 4, hopefully it will be more reliable, otherwise we will need to revert to regular laptops.

I'm guessing you have tried holding volume down and power button to force reset shut off it right?

Yes I have tried all the different key press combinations. Look like I will need to try and source a second hand motherboard.
