Replaced my home button and ribbon on my 5c. It's still not working. I have to use the touch assist to navigate in my phone and it's getting frustrating. Any thoughts on what the true problem could be?

Small parts are notorious for poor quality, you may just have a defective replacement part. Make sure you clean the contacts on the flex and the relevant pins (you can see them here) on the Lightning Connector Assembly. This flex may actually be the source of your problem if it is damaged.
