Lens Cap & Leveling Foot

I know this is a very old unit, but I've used it well and this has me stumped. The auto lens cap doesn't open or close fully, and the auto leveling foot doesn't go down as it should. Consequently, the light comes on and adjusts, but then goes into standby mode and shuts down. The "Lamp Cover" indicator on the side of the unit starts flashing as well. I'm wondering if this indicates a fault in the little switch you uncovered in your teardown instructions. Seems as if that might make sense. If so, I'm wondering what part should be replaced to rectify the situation. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!
